Release 1.0
Changes since d13.0:
Multiple Chess Sets
A new dialog has been added for "Board Options". It contains a
popup Chess Set menu, where you can choose among several piece sets: Staunton32,
Diagram32, and Figurine32.
Others sets are available for downloading from our web page at:
http://www.cruzio.com/~tao/iccclient
To use these, just drop them into the "Chess Set X" folder. You
can even add your own chess sets using ResEdit, a free program from Apple!
If you have created a new set and want to offer it as freeware or shareware
we will post it on our web page as well.
Show Unpaired Captured Pieces
When "Show Captured Pieces" in the Options menu is checked, board
windows games are expanded to show captured pieces. Only the difference
is shown however, not the captured pieces that have been "paired up".
For example, if Black is two pawns down then only two Black pawns will appear
in this area. If White is an exchange down then a Black bishop and a White
rook might both be shown. This is a quick graphical way of seeing who is
winning in terms of material strength.
Note that this does not apply to Bughouse (Wild24) which shows pieces "in
hand" instead. For Kriegspiel (Wild16) only your captured pieces are
shown. For odds games, the piece given as odds is shown as having been captured.
Menus Overhauled
The menus have been completely reorganized.
Added:
- Show Last Move (command-L)
- List Channels, Show Games Sought, and Stored commands
Changed:
- Keyboard shortcut for "Flip Board" changed from Command-I
to Command-F
- Many menu and menu item names and positions
Removed:
- Past Release Notes
- Keyboard shortcuts for Flag and Draw
- Limits, Up Statistics, and Statistics commands from Command menu
Popup Button Help
When the mouse is passed over the icon buttons on the board windows, they
now display a short text description of what they do.
Login Feedback Window
There is a new login window that provides feedback during the login process.
It also allows you to simply press the return key to connect and login after
the application is launched.
No More Expiration Dates
Unlike previous versions, this version has no expiration date built into
it. The ICC can still keep track of which interface you are using though
and a two-week trial period is enforced if payment is not received. Client
registration is done through "Online Order Form..." available
in the Apple menu.
Online Time Limitation For Guests
Unregistered users of the ICC are limited to 30 minutes per session. A 5
minute warning is issued before being logged off. Nobody will be logged
off while playing a game.
